BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Propulsion Engineering Manager to support the Air Force's sustainment of the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to ensure the continued effectiveness of the MMIII intercontinental ballistic missile, which is the national security-critical backbone of our nuclear deterrent capability. This is a key supervisory position where the successful candidate will lead a team of engineers who will be charged with assessing, maintaining and improving the performance capabilities of the MMIII rocket motors and ordinance devices. This position reports to the MMII Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with a highly skilled team providing critical technical management and business analysis expertise to the government customer

  • Lead and direct the work product of a team of 20 BAE Systems engineers in the MMIII Propulsion Integrated Product Team.

  • Analyzing performance reports while complying with industry standards as well as analyzing preliminary plans and reliability engineering programs to achieve U.S Air Force reliability objectives

  • Provide guidance and assistance to the US Air Force customer as they drive the development and execution of closed loop/corrective action principles, tracking hardware and software (HW/SW) improvements, and operational performance over time for the nation s ICBM designs

  • Applies mechanical and systems engineering discipline for the sustainment of the MM III missile and corresponding support equipment, test stations, processes, and materials.

  • Performs trades studies, integration engineering, review of technical data packages, failure analysis, and trend projection.

  • Support government and BAE Systems leadership for program management and engineering to ensure the health of the MM III Weapon System.

  • Support the USAF with live fire testing of liquid and solid propellant rocket motors

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics

  • Minimum 7 years of related experience (5 years with MS degree); including but not limited to knowledge of reliability technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and statistical techniques

  • Minimum 3 years of responsibility in providing technical leadership

  • Proactive person with a positive attitude and team player

  • Strong communication skills

  • ICBM experience, especially MM III Propulsion Systems, Solid and Liquid Propellants, Ordnance, Flight Controls specific is preferred

  • Finite Element experience modeling elastomeric materials

  • Reentry, Guidance and Navigation, Inertial Measurement, Propulsion, Ordnance, and/or battery technology experience.

  • ICBM Field Maintenance

  • Depot Repair

  • Risk management

  • Configuration management

  • Logistical Analysis

  • Assessment and modeling practices for development of subsystems with high Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time Between Maintenance (MTBM), logistical and administrative delay times, and effective reliability levels of components that are difficult to test in-situ

  • Design phases of reliability, availability, maintainability, supportability, and logistics; system integration and testing; maintainability demonstrations; reliability demonstrations; growth planning and testing; and/or sparing analyses

  • Executing Data Collection, Analysis, and Corrective Action System(s) (DCACAS) including Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System(s) (FRACAS)

  • Strong technical background in development of Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA); trend analysis, systemic & non-systemic, root cause analysis; and Corrective and Preventative Action (RCCA/PA)

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance

  • Experience with INCOSE ASEP or CSEP

  • OCMP Model User or Model Builder Intermediate (OCSMP-I)

  • Prior experience with DoD Acquisitions Programs and/or weapons systems

  • Specific ICBM weapon system experience

  • Service Life Estimating techniques

  • Oral and Written communication skills

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $120000 - $204000

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
