Solar Array Drive Mechanisms Design Engineer Highlands Ranch, Colorado
Aegis Aerospace is seeking a skilled Solar Array Drive Mechanisms Design Engineer to join our team in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
This hybrid role requires 3 days per week in the office. The expected salary ranges from $80,000 to $115,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and relevant certifications. The Period of Performance (POP) is from March 31, 2025, to September 28, 2026, and the position is full-time.
Overview The purpose of this position is to work with the prime contractor in developing and designing solar array drive mechanisms for the Geo-XO spacecraft. This position will support Aegis' contract with Lockheed Martin (LM) in Highlands Ranch, CO. The engineer will work with Lockheed Martin's team developing design specifications, design implementation and testing using LM's design processes. In addition, develop manufacturing documentation, interface control drawings (ICD), and support modeling. Applicants will be responsible for design review products, review of results, and communicating results effectively to all stakeholders.

Responsibilities * Support requirements definition and development of Mechanisms Subsystem requirements documentation. * Support mechanisms engineering design efforts with CREO CAD modeling, drawing maturation, and technical reviews with stakeholders to capture needs and changes. * Support the engineering effort for the Solar Array Drive Assembly updates and integration into the spacecraft. * Support the CREO design and drawing release cycle for design updates to SADA. * Assist in documentation updates, including updates to specs, test plans, test procedures, manufacturing work instructions, and ICDs. * Work with stakeholders and subcontractor suppliers to support the development of engineering packages for mechanisms and spacecraft PDR and CDR. * Support Mechanisms Subsystem chart preparation for customer presentations as well as document preparation for scheduled contract deliveries. * Assist in the preparation and delivery of PDR, CDR, and QRB Mechanisms Subsystem chart packages. * Assist in managing the design, manufacturing, test, and integration of mechanisms hardware to ensure hardware is in compliance with program requirements and verify mechanisms hardware will integrate correctly into space vehicle system. * Generation of PDR/CDR engineering artifacts (charts, documentation, etc.) and presentation at PDR/CDR. * Weekly detailed documentation of design progress. * Generation of other engineering documentation to include Engineering Memos. * Resolve all action items from the design reviews (PDR/CDR) related to propulsion systems design.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Must presently be a US Citizen * A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college is required, or a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in aerospace mechanical design. * A minimum of 2 years of hands-on aerospace industry experience beyond academia is required. * Experience with mechanisms hardware performance & integration into space vehicles, including commanding to and telemetry from mechanisms hardware and understand impacts to other subsystems. * CREO experience * Previous experience with SADA engineering support is highly preferred. * Experienced problem solver. * Strong interpersonal skills in a collaborative team environment, where effective communication and teamwork are essential to success. * Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative. * Drawing reviewing experience * Electrical circuit familiarity * Manufacturing experience * Technical writing experience * Secondary structure design experience * Hardware testing experience * Experienced technical problem solver. * Experience with interpersonal skills in a teaming environment where collaboration and communication are critical to the functioning of the team. * Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative. * Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with project managers, team leads, customers, and contract colleagues. * Proven ability to build and maintain trust and credibility with customers and contract personnel through strong relationship management and a collaborative approach. * Sound professional judgment in setting objectives, prioritizing tasks, and achieving key milestones. * Dependable, results-driven work ethic with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS * Master's Degree in an Engineering related discipline.
