Manufacturer in Detroit is seeking an Industrial Engineer to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 1-2 years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience with shop floor capacity planning/ floor space analysis and continuous improvement required, as well as capabilities with AutoCAD. Will consider entry-level candidates with internship/Co-op experience.

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

responsibilities:

• Plans, directs, and coordinates internal and external processes in the industrial plant

• Develops, evaluates, and improves internal and external material flow methods.

• Designs and improves both inbound and outbound route.

• Analyzes and plans work force and utilization, floor space, and material flow; designs layout of equipment and operator workspace.

• Conducts time study analysis through simulation of material flow throughout the plant.

• Works with part suppliers and/or vendors to engineer and develop material handling equipment, storage solutions, and packaging

• Performs calculation of staffing requirements, fleets and management of returnable packaging.

• Identifies process wastes in the overall supply chain to identify savings opportunities

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required

• At least 1-3 years of experience with floor space analysis and capacity planning

• AutoCAD experience required

• Knowledge of methodologies including Kanban, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing and root cause analysis
