Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform preventive maintenance on electrical power support systems. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot on electrical power support systems. You will conduct periodic load - tests to ensure adequacy of systems. You will repair components such as generators, voltage regulators, governors, starter motors, fuel pumps, fuel lines and oil pumps. You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Aircraft Arresting Systems. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. 1) Performing pre-operational and preventive maintenance inspections on electrical generating equipment, auxiliary power units, air compressors, engine stands and hydraulic jacks;2) Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems of assigned equipment; and3) Keeping general and specific work areas clean as well as tools and equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires evening and weekend work. May be selected at WG 05 or WG 08 level. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. Physical Demands: The work involves frequent bending, climbing, stooping, crouching, walking, standing, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifting heavier items with the assistance of other employees or with the use of jacks. At time, may have to work in awkward positions or cramped areas. Work Conditions: May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, noise, and lying on asphalt and conducting work in a non-permitted confined space. Works inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in the areas that are noisy, dirty, and greasy. Maybe occasionally be exposed to the possibility of injury, falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary devices such as electrical motors.
