JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking a Research Project Manager. This position will maintain all IRBs for all funded projects in the Stuckey research team. This position will be responsible for: contacting participants, scheduling and conducting interviews, transcription, and the qualitative coding of all data, as well as assist in analysis. This position will also be responsible for payment of participants, maintenance of study records and database, act as the liaison between study sites, and schedule/coordinate meetings with all members of the study team(s).
Position will be active in large grants totaling approximately $1 million. This position will be a management-level position, supporting specifically one faculty member, but will be responsible for maintaining the relationships built with multiple external institutions.
Competencies Required:
Qualitative research experience: this position will be responsible for interviewing, transcribing, and coding the data collected during these projects, and will be assisting in analysis. Thorough understanding of qualitative research and interviewing techniques are crucial to the success of the research.
This position will be heavily reliant on personal accountability. This position will be scheduling all interviews with participants on their own schedule, and it is imperative that this position stays on top of interviewing to keep the data collection in line with milestones.
This position must function well in a group setting as this position will work collaboratively with multiple external institutions for recruitment and other facets of the research process. Dr. Stuckey works with students, and this position may need to take on leadership positions in those situations.
Communication within the study team will be regular, to check on the progress of the research, and as needed, to correct any possible issues that arise during the research. This position will work within the team, but also must communicate with external institutions regularly as well.
This position will be the primary interviewer for multiple research studies, and qualitative interviews inherently call for innovation and problem solving. An interviewer must think quickly to best gather data from participants.
Typical Education & Experience
4+ years related experience
Master's Degree or higher
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.
