Amazon Business Continuity Senior Specialist, ADC Resiliency Group in Herndon, Virginia

Description

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Amazon Dedicated Cloud Resiliency Group (ADC RG) is looking for a business continuity expert to join our team to build and scale our resilience program. ADC RG is responsible for building and maintaining plans and processes that support protecting workforce life safety for cloud service and operations teams, and advising AWS leaders on risks that could have an impact on cloud infrastructure and service availability. You will work with AWS leaders, stakeholder teams, and government agencies to scale, implement, and exercise crisis response plans. You will be responding to real events and making recommendations to crisis managers for action.

The ideal candidate has built robust resiliency programs in technical environments at large organizations and found innovative ways to assess, measure and treat resiliency risk. To be successful, you must love to build relationships, have an intense desire to understand how the organization works, and constantly think about how the program can better serve AWS. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, both physical and logical, and cloud services is preferred.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead development and launch of a crisis management program

  • Develop disaster event response protocols and processes

  • Manage, fuse, and present risk data to inform operational posture changes and alerts to infrastructure and service teams

  • Create and implement emergency and crisis response training for crisis managers and cloud operations teams

  • Integrate crisis plans across internal stakeholders and government agencies

Basic Qualifications

  • 7-10 years' experience implementing emergency management programs for commercial or federal organizations

  • 7-10 years’ experience working in a current operations environment

  • 8+ years working across planning and operations teams in a large organization

  • 8+ years engaging with executive-level leaders on emergency and crisis management

  • 5+ years developing, implementing, and exercising processes

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
