Ford Motor Company Business IT Solution Architect in Hermosillo, Mexico

The Ford Product Development and Quality | New Model Programs organization seeks a new team member to manage our suite of business IT solutions. Our business IT team owns, manages, and extends multiple applications with a user base around the globe, and works with key business partners to understand emerging business trends and provide rapid solutions for their critical needs.

Employees may be required to work in the office either a set number of days each week in a hybrid work environment depending on specific work assignments, training requirements and/or collaboration opportunities. Currently, the requirement is 3 days/wk onsite at a Ford facility.

As we’re a small team for the complexity of applications we support, on-call, off-hours, and weekend support may be required on a rotational basis.

In this position, your work will be used directly by Chiefs, Directors and Vice Presidents of the company. You’ll have the opportunity to learn both legacy and emerging technologies to support our business while expanding your technology portfolio.

  • Manage our application suite, which consist of Java/Struts, VB.Net, SQL Server and SSRS(includes app monitoring, logging, emergency response, user errors/requests, user security and problem escalation to developers)

  • Deploy our application in the Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) using uBuild and future Google Cloud Platform application via Tekton

  • Conduct business continuity, disaster recovery testing and other audits as required

  • Document implemented changes/improvements for IT and business purposes

  • Assist with the migration of our primary application from PCF to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Angular, NodeJS, Tekton and 20 other technologies

  • Interact with end users and IT professionals across the globe

  • Test entire features across all layers (UI/UX, database, services) and build new REST services

  • Ensure compliance with IT and business policies

  • Work with our developers, Ford IT team and others to implement new deployment, security and monitoring tools

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve rapid solutions for our complex business.

  • Learn to perform rapid prototyping in our proprietary tool using HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Participate in team efforts to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in application maintenance and/or deployment experience, with a preference for JavaScript, Java or similar languages

  • Ability to deliver on commitments made within an Agile cycle

Even better, you may have…

  • Experience migrating moderate/complex applications to Angular/Node.js

  • Experience writing complex SQL Queries from one or more databases (SQL Server, Oracle, BigQuery) and analyzing the data

  • Some development experience with Java, JSON, SQL Server, Python and/or JavaScript

  • Knowledge of Agile development, APIs/microservices and infrastructure tools (Terraform, Tekton)

  • Understanding of Cloud Architecture, Cloud Security; Cloud platforms, Automation (Ideally Google Cloud Platform)

  • Strong communication skills in English

  • Intelligence, and drive; must be able to deliver work commitments in a self-driven manner within a fast-paced environment in a key area of the automotive business

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and operating practices
