Civil Construction Laborer/Inspector

Job Description

The technician will be responsible for working in the field, assisting the owner and their team with various tasks related to environmental and construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site visits to assess project needs, prepare tools and equipment, and ensure readiness for tasks.

  • Collect soil, water, and other environmental samples for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.

  • Operate and maintain field equipment such as drills, pumps, and sampling devices. Perform routine checks and calibrations to ensure accuracy.

  • Accurately record field data, observations, and measurements. Maintain detailed logs and reports for project documentation.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

  • Coordinate with team members and supervisors to report progress, issues, and findings. Provide updates on project status and any challenges encountered.

  • Prepare job sites by setting up necessary equipment and materials. Clean up sites after work is completed, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored.

  • Identify and resolve issues with equipment or processes in the field. Report any significant problems to supervisors for further action.

  • Occasionally interact with clients or property owners to explain work being done and address any concerns they may have.

  • Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay updated on new techniques, equipment, and safety practices.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime if necessary

  • Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment

Work Environment

Expect to work in a variety of outdoor environments, including construction sites, undeveloped land, and areas undergoing environmental assessments. The work site conditions can vary significantly based on the project. Most tasks are performed outdoors, regardless of weather conditions, requiring work in hot, cold, rainy, or windy environments. You may encounter uneven, muddy, or rocky terrain, requiring careful navigation and appropriate footwear. Construction sites can be noisy due to machinery and equipment operation. Strict adherence to safety protocols is essential to prevent accidents and injuries, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
