What you will do:
The Senior Manager Supplier Development & Quality leads a team of Supplier Development & Quality leaders across multiple PBU/plants and the Field Organization responsible to identify and drive continuous improvements with assigned suppliers, while also making sure the organization stays aligned with business needs to increase value generation in terms of sustainable supplier performance in on time delivery, quality, capacity, scalability, and sustainability to all our sites.
You will direct and enables the monitoring, evaluation, training, and selection of suppliers across multiple Product Business Units (PBU's) and the Field organization within Johnson Controls. This includes suppliers who provide direct material to plants, branded third party product (OEM/ODM) or material with one of the Johnson Controls brand names, or third-party materials to the Field business. The impact of this role is Global and spans the enterprise including multiple business units, functions, and suppliers. This position will influence key decision-making processes with direct connection to customer and supplier delivery and business.
The focus area is to work directly with the Quality, Fulfillment, Operations, Procurement & Engineering leaders. This role will lead the implementation of processes, tools, and training to drive quality, accuracy, efficiency, and accountability in all aspects of order fulfillment including supplier lead time reduction and on-time delivery, get well to PO, supplier past due reduction, days gap closure to JCI need date, supplier capacity verification, surge capacity available and key quality indicators at the supplier site as well as at JCI including SPPM, supplier recovery and warranty, on-time response to 4D/8D and 8D closure rate in order to achieve a sustainable high quality performance.
How you will do it:
Actively lead and develop, a team of supplier development & quality leaders who work with the quality, fulfillment, procurement, engineering, and operations teams to drive the desired performance regarding delivery, quality, capacity, and sustainability.
Collaborate with the global materials and supplier development leadership, to develop a culture of accountability including targets, performance management (KPIs), and governance structure.
Actively define and deploy the supplier development strategy.
Lead and secure application of continuous improvement methodologies and strategies to drive value creation to support business needs.
Effectively communicate, report, and perform monthly reviews of supplier development and continuous im rovement initiatives.
Develops programs to drive supplier capacity audits and analyzes supplier's scalability including production set up and methods to identify waste and the need for process development and investments.
Provides a structured problem-solving process to drive a solid root cause analysis for performance issues (Delivery and Quality).
Develops programs to facilitate and implement supplier-training needs.
Leads teams who evaluate risk of new suppliers to deliver upon program requirements including on site or other assessments. Works throughout the NPI programs to ensure suppliers' readiness.
Coordinates, leads, and facilitates assessments with a cross functional team for strategic/critical suppliers to resolve reason for poor performance monitoring corrective action and continuous improvement validations.
Develops programs related to supplier overall performance including a robust on-boarding and risk assessment process, execution of risk mitigation strategies, periodic on-site assessments of key suppliers, development and execution of JCI Global Supplier Standards.
Communicate Process outcomes & risks/mitigations effectively and efficiently during shop floor and business center reviews.
Proactively participates in strategic supplier selection (e.g. dual source, supplier change, engineering change) with Procurement PBU & Category leadership, Engineering, Quality, Operations, etc.
Coordinates with Procurement, Operations, Materials/Fulfillment and Engineering to assure that materials are on site in a timely manner to facilitate speedy and accurate parts availability to meet customer demands.
Helps to develop a culture of accountability supporting the tracking, action planning, and measurable improvement of critical supply chain planning KPIs ... define the process mission, vision, tactics, goals, objectives, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and the measures that are aligned with the organization strategies.
Manage KPI performance through supplier management of demand-supply variation, labor planning, order scheduling and capacity planning.
Develop project templates and management system driving data to information to action plans.
What we look for Required
Bachelor's degree within engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain management.
At least 10 years of experience in continuous improvement in manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain management, preferable in a global, cross-cultural environment.
Hands on experience of successful application of six sigma and lean mfg. tools.
Certification and advanced practical experience deploying and driving Lean, Program Management, and Six Sigma.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to influence others and lead teams.
Project Management: Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and work to a strict schedule.
Proven analytical and organizational ability.
Tenacious although professional when working with supplier challenges.
Ability to travel up to 50% including international.
