The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi is hiring a Senior Arts Auditoria, Facilities, and Events Manager to oversee the production of arts events in spaces in the College. Job Description
This position manages auditorium facilities—including but not limited to Bennett Auditorium and the Mannoni Performing Arts Center—in the College of Arts and Sciences and ensures that all personnel and guests have a suitable working environment for their activities, including by managing events; overseeing the maintenance and repair of facilities and their contents; overseeing the maintenance, repair, and procurement of equipment; coordinates scheduling, reservations, and payment for use of the halls; and supervises and trains staff, student workers, and technicians in performing duties related to managing events and maintaining the auditoria.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provides service to auditoria renters and users by managing the scheduling of facilities, including load-ins and load-outs; participating in site and facility inspections; providing service during rehearsals or events or supervising workers; running technical equipment or supervising workers who run technical equipment; and interfacing with independent contractors or vendors.
Directly manages and trains team which includes graduate assistants, technicians, and temporary staff related to producing world-class arts events.
Maintains facilities by maintaining a list of needed repairs, equipment, or furnishings; entering work orders; overseeing the maintenance, repair, or inventory of equipment; and ensuring that the facilities are in good working order. Maintains responsibility for security, health, and safety standards of facilities and users; ensures that the buildings meet health and safety requirements; and respond appropriately to emergencies or other urgent issues.
Tracks expenditures related to auditorium facilities and spending needs; coordinates revenue sources for facilities; calculates and compares costs for required goods/services; and seeks efficiencies and value for needed goods/services. Prepares annual budget.
Manages processes by scheduling facilities; supervising workers; overseeing technical considerations such as lighting, sound, etc.; coordinating the allocation and utilization of space; and oversees parking and other user or guest needs.
Serves as the point of contact and represents the University for artists/agencies, internal/external rental clients as well as USM arts schools to review and assess technical riders to advance shows and create plans for day of show. Includes load-in, hangs/focus, technical rehearsals, strikes and venue transitions. Liaises with Physical Plant, outside vendors and contractors, School offices personnel and Dean’s office personnel regarding facilities; and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a performing arts field from an accredited college or university and five years of experience working with sound and lighting equipment within a theatre environment, demonstrated experience in public event management and patron relations, familiarity with telecommunications equipment, and a minimum of two years of management experience. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Ability to develop and maintain financial and budgetary files and make transactions
Knowledge of event planning in order to plan for such aspects as seating and catering; knowledge of facility maintenance and performance needs
Ability to work collegially with a diverse clientele
Preferred Qualifications
BFA degree from an accredited college or university, as well as extensive experience in a technical theatre environment. Ideal candidates will possess experience working with high-end theatrical sound and lighting equipment, including the ability to calculate safe amperage load for dimmer circuits and dedicated equipment circuits. A safe working knowledge of a drivable single man lift is also preferred.
