Enterprise Data Governance & Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization. EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities.

The role is an integral part of EDDS and supports Customer 360, an AXP-wide capability that provides a global enterprise view of entities (that have or had an American Express relationship with at least one product or service globally), comprehensive insights and linkages. This is fundamentally reshaping our ecosystem and the way we engage with our customers by leveraging industry leading Amex data assets, next-gen machine learning algorithms and Big Data environment.

Key responsibilities for this role would be providing analytical support to improve data quality and accuracy of customer data, serving all the analytics needs for C360. Part of this role will be to work with platform owners for deployment of analytical solutions to improve customer data in Customer 360, enrich data and enhance accuracy to drive Amex economics in various areas – marketing, new accounts acquisition and onboarding, risk management, customer servicing, customer management, credit & collections etc.

Functional Responsibilities:

We’re looking for a skilled individual who can work in a cross-functional team and deliver on the following goals and objectives:

  • Analytical support to improve accuracy of customer data in Customer 360.

  • Ensure adherence and compliance to data quality standards

  • Monitor performance and quality control plans to identify any gaps, find solutions to elevate data quality and performance at product level.

  • Maintain an external lens to inform decisions and business strategies

  • Partner with product analysts and data scientists to drive identification and enhancement of Customer 360 Individual platform with the target to reduce ORE/CAPs and customer generated incidents related to data and linkages for Individual Entities.

  • Facilitate stakeholder management and collaboration across a wide net of partners including Product, Technology and Governance within and outside Customer 360.

  • Support overall program management efforts including handling project status, managing, and raising risks and issues.

  • Facilitate the optimization of product backlogs, efficiently translate the business needs into requirements on Rally and articulate it clearly to the scrum teams.

  • Ability to write effective testing and acceptance criteria to ensure features are delivered in a timely manner.

  • Define, quantify and report on metrics related to product launch, process efficiency and performance.

  • Collaborate with scrum team(s) and demonstrating qualities consistent with AMEX leadership dimensions (empower, encourage, influence, deliver)

Qualification Requirements:

  • 0-2 years of experience in development and deployment of data science solutions

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information security, Mathematics, Statistics, or any other relevant qualification

  • Strong quantitative skills with an understanding of analyzing large amounts of data and data flows to identify patterns/insights and generate useful recommendations with high value.

  • Experience with delivering business solutions across a variety of platforms and technologies such as Big Data, Pyspark, Hive, SQL, Scala, Python

  • Good understanding of prototyping, iterative development, and Agile principles.

  • Strong program management, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems.

  • Ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment.

  • Focus on understanding sophisticated business problem and analyze complex data to provide a simplified solution to business partners.
