Analyst – Band 30, Global Privacy Oversight, Shared Services

The American Express Global Privacy Oversight (GPO) are trusted advisors on the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles. We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance towards internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization and establish privacy as a strategic differentiator for the American Express brand. As a second line of defense function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy framework and the company’s vision to provide the world’s best customer experience every day.

Position Overview

As an organisation we are continuously striving to provide best customer experience to our clients. This requires new launches/ updating products/services. As the regulators /regulations are keep evolving, we need to constantly provide 2 nd line oversight on all these launches/updating of product and services.

In order to have more efficiency in providing oversight and support Privacy Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Privacy Relationship Lead (PRL), we are establishing a dynamic Privacy Shared Services team within International Privacy vertical, dedicated to conduct/support Contant Privacy (CP) requests, Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs)/ Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) etc.

The candidate must be passionate about privacy, with expertise covering privacy best practice and regulations. The candidate shall support the Manager, Shared Services in effectively setting up the processes supporting the business and achieving objectives alongside privacy risk management goals. This position shall be based out of Gurugram Office, India. As the position would entail working with stakeholders across the markets including US/LACC/EMEA, candidate would be required to work in a shift timing matching these time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify relevant privacy risks in the processing activity by ensuring comprehensive and accurate responses to privacy questionnaires.

  • Work on agreed timelines of adjudication of privacy related queries from various stakeholders including Third Party Lifecycle Management (TLM) program, ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations and internal privacy program.

  • Support the development and implementation of procedures for Shared Service program at Global Privacy Oversight.

  • Assist in ensuring day to day operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and company policies. Participates in privacy reviews of business units.

  • Engage with GPO’s Privacy Program team and BU PRL on regular basis.

  • Prepare regular decks to track status of work done

  • Foster a culture of privacy at American Express by advocating for privacy-by-design, integration of the American Express Data

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in Compliance/ Privacy/ Risk Management/ Audit role in a highly regulated domain or in consultancy within the Big Four or in a bank/financial institution background.

  • Privacy certification (e.g. CIPP, CIPM) would be an added advantage

  • Prior work experience in privacy compliance, audit, and/or risk management in a financial services, digital, or technology company preferred but not required.

  • Fair knowledge of privacy best practices along with regulations and frameworks around privacy area of law such as GDPR, CCPA, India DPDPA etc.

  • Knowledge of operational risk concepts and requirements with an emphasis on privacy.

  • Highly organized and strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences

  • High standard of integrity

  • Strong computer knowledge; excellent MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.

  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, adaptable and detail oriented with a proven ability to work independently or within a team environment.

  • Strong analytical capabilities.

Strong presentation skills, particularly in the development of professional and thoughtful materials
