Remote: This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, or Mountain View, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum

About the Role:
General Motors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Digital eCommerce team. This team is responsible for supporting the OnStar Sales team by developing and optimizing microservices associated to Digital Order Management and fulfillment/activation services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microservices architecture, performance optimization, and a passion for delivering high-quality digital solutions in the eCommerce space. This role will be primarily focused on backend development, ensuring the robustness and efficiency of our microservices infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize microservices.
Collaborate with cross-functionalengineeringteams, to deliver seamless digital eCommerce solutions.
Implement best practices for microservices architecture, including containerization, orchestration, and real-time data processing.
Conduct performance tuning and optimization of existing backend microservices to meet stringent response time requirements.
Develop and maintain comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions to ensure high availability and performance.
Work closely with the OnStar Sales team to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Envision, document, communicate, and train other team members on improvements to our coding standards and best practices.
Mentor and coach fellow developers, ensuring that the team meets quality standards through regular code/peerreviews and thorough testing.
Collaborate closely with solution architects, enterprise architects, and/or data scientists to make sure your code aligns with design patterns and frameworks.
Work on Proof of Concepts, developing new functionality and technology while mitigating any technical risks.
Manage day-to-day domain services system issues and requests, prioritizing them efficiently and managing expectations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for one or more domain services.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend microservices development and optimization.
Proven track record of delivering high-performance backend microservices.
Strong proficiency in programming languages suchasJava, Python, and(Front-End Frameworksare a plus).
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
Expertise in performance tuning, profiling, and optimization techniques.
Familiarity with real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
The salary range for this role is 165,000 - 298,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
