SENIOR MANAGER – SOFTWARE ENGINEERING (API C) (IC)

Join Fortune 7 CVS Health as a Sr Mgr - Software Engineering within the Shared Services and Advanced Technology Delivery (SSATD) organization. In this role, you will lead API delivery, API innovative Proof-of-Concepts, and help to strengthen quality, stability, and efficiency. This role requires the ability to partner effectively with diverse, cross-functional stakeholders who are located in geographically distributed areas. Leading through relationships and influencing will be key to success.

In accordance with strategic direction and guidance, you will work with the team to formulate, initiate, and execute key activities that provide demonstrable, measurable value. You must be a technical leader who is adept at understanding the larger picture while paying attention to details. This role is expected to be a technical expert and SME in API practices, knowledgeable and able to be hands on with multiple API technologies (such as API C, Apigee, Kong, API M, etc), and be able to step in to help the team with development as needed. You have a proven track record of leading complex technical troubleshooting, implementing continuous improvements based on learnings, with command of all aspects of delivery from architecture to development to production support.

Fundamental Components:

  • SME in API technologies with proven ability to deliver APIs using multiple API technologies such as API C, Apigee, Kong, and API M.

  • Independently performs and assists other team members in providing ongoing system maintenance, research, problem resolution and on-call support tasks for existing systems. MUST be willing to be on-call 24x7 on a rotational basis and to provide hands-on technical troubleshooting for Production and Non-Production environments. Able to support late-night and early morning deployments on a regular basis.

  • Leads or acts as chief technical contributor to translation of business requirements to technical specifications.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement, consistently follows-through with commitments, conscientious and able to communicate effectively in writing (presentations, documentations) and verbally across a wide-variety of audiences.

  • Leads code reviews. Oversees and performs unit testing. Supports test automation. May perform or assist with integration and system testing, according to detailed test plans to ensure high-quality systems.

  • Ability to support and lead others to develop API services utilizing onshore and offshore teams.

  • Able to be nimble and to take in new information, to adjust priorities and to pivot approach as needed while remaining steadfastly focused on the overall objective.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience in software development engineering roles

  • 5+ years in strong API development and delivery in technologies such as: IBM API C, Kong, Apigee, or API M

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years in Java with high level of technical expertise, hands on coding, and leading teams in Java delivery. Able to manage Java apps in production including technical troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge with the following technologies: Kong, Microservices, KAFKA, Batch integrations, and Azure

  • Architecture, infrastructure knowledge and expertise (F5, DataPower, Firewalls, Certs)

  • Health insurance or insurance industry knowledge

EducationBachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$124,372.50 - $247,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
