If so, we invite you to explore an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Renewable Energy Tax Credit Insurance Underwriter.

At Munich Re HSB, we specialize in providing innovative insurance solutions tailored to the unique needs of our clients. As a Renewable Energy Tax Credit Insurance Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in our mission by applying your legal knowledge and underwriting expertise to assess and mitigate risks associated with tax credit transactions.

The Renewable Energy Tax Credit Insurance Underwriter will be responsible for assessing and underwriting insurance policies related to tax credits (ITCs/PTCs) in clean energy and decarbonization industries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to company guidelines, industry regulations, and risk management practices.

The right candidate will have a law degree and extensive experience providing legal advice on energy transition transactions, with a deep understanding of tax law, tax credit structures, financial analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.

As a product champion, the person will engage with internally and externally to build excitement, interest and thought leadership around these products.

This position will officially be a part of the HSB organization, a Munich Re Company.

Education and Experience

  • Law degree required. Licensed to practice law, in Good Standing.

  • 10+ years of experience which can be a combination of legal tax advisory, insurance underwriting, finance, claims and risk management.

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience providing legal advice on energy transition transactions, including renewable energy underwriting, tax credits, financial analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of Inflation Reduction Act, related IRS tax codes, renewable energy industry, tax equity finance and pricing, underwriting, legal and regulatory compliance, documentation, risk management and corporate accounting

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, assess credit risk, and make sound underwriting decisions

  • Exceptional interpersonal/relationship management and communication skills (presentation, verbal and written), with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism

  • Proficiency in using underwriting software, financial modeling tools, and business productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, docusign.
