Our client, a non-profit Healthcare Organization & provider of healthcare services dedicated to serving the community with compassion and excellence, is adding a Controller to their team! This role will be an on-site position in the Hartford, CT area.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Controller to join the team and oversee many financial aspects of a non-profit healthcare organization. The Controller will be responsible for managing financial planning, accounting, and reporting functions. This role requires a strong understanding of non-profit financial management, healthcare, compliance, and a commitment to the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

  • Manage the organization's financial resources efficiently and effectively to support strategic objectives.

  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial performance, and provide regular reports to senior management and the board of directors.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads and senior management.

  • Develop financial forecasts and projections to support long-term planning and decision-making.

  • Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to identify areas for cost savings or revenue enhancement.

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external auditors and tax professionals.

Grant Management:

  • Manage grant accounting and reporting processes to ensure compliance with grant requirements.

  • Work closely with program managers to track grant expenditures and prepare grant reports for funders.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing non-profit organizations.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls and risk management practices.

Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.

Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit healthcare organization or similar environment.

Must have experience working within non-profit and healthcare recently!

Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements, including grant accounting and reporting (e.g., GAAP, IRS regulations).

Experience with financial software systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
