WHTM/abc27, a leading television station based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a talented and dedicated Multimedia Journalist to join our dynamic news team. Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania, our station is strategically located just hours away from major metropolitan areas such as Washington DC, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. The Harrisburg-Lancaster-York-Lebanon region offers a unique blend of rolling farmlands, wooded state parks, and vibrant cities, making it an ideal place to live and work.

As a Multimedia Journalist Reporter, you will play a crucial role in producing, reporting, shooting, writing, voicing, editing, and delivering news content across all platforms. We are seeking a candidate who can convey information in a clear, engaging, and meaningful manner to our diverse audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Report news stories for broadcast, providing detailed background and event descriptions

  • Arrange interviews with key individuals to gather relevant information

  • Review and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation

  • Determine story emphasis, length, and format, organizing material accordingly

  • Research and analyze background information to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Pitch relevant stories to news managers and producers

  • Shoot and edit news events and reports

  • Interact with viewers/users on social media platforms

  • Ensure all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad lib when required

  • Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting (depending on market size)

  • Superior on-air presence

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

  • Flexibility to work any shift
