Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Information Technology Generalist 2 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4440754 THE POSITION Are you an analytically minded individual?  The Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System (PMRS) is seeking a detail-oriented Information Technology (IT) Generalist 2, that possesses the skills to complete highly accurate work, while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.  This position gives you the opportunity to perform a variety of IT support functions within the department.  We want you to bring your unique skills to our team!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Information Technology Generalist 2, you will be responsible for the agency's computing infrastructure and associated operating environments, systems support, analysis of business needs, database queries, and report generation in support of PMRS' business users and associated applications.  You will work to troubleshoot and resolve all IT issues reported via direct communication, observations, and testing results and provide onsite and remote connectivity and authentication support for agency users. This position analyzes any modifications in business requirements due to PMRS board, regulatory, and legislative changes and networks with vendor support to troubleshoot business system problems and issues.  You will test and evaluate new products and technology and make recommendations on hardware and software purchases and utilization.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week, upon successful completion of the training period.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Information Technology Generalist 1, Applications Developer 1, or Network Specialist 1; or Two years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or A bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
