Reference #: 4350458 THE POSITION Food safety in grocery stores, restaurants, and in food manufacturing has an impact on every single Pennsylvanian. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Division of Food Safety's mission is to protect and keep food safe from the farm to the fork by educating, regulating, and ensuring compliance with food safety laws and regulations. We are looking for a compliance focused inspector to join our team to complete food safety inspections in Juniata and Perry counties. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Division of Food Safety plays a critical role in protecting Pennsylvanians and our visitors by regulating the tens of thousands of eating and drinking establishments, retail food stores, and food manufacturers found across the state to ensure compliance with food safety laws. More specifically, this position works to ensure seasonal farm labor camps and food and milk facilities such as wholesale, retail, manufacturing, dairy, and warehousing are in adherence with state guidelines. As a Food Inspector 2, you will independently conduct numerous types of food safety related inspections in a variety of these types of establishments in Juniata and Perry counties. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and food safety and security is key in this position as you will document your findings to be distributed appropriately.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment This position will be home headquartered if you live in Juniata or Perry county. If you do not live in one of these counties, your assigned state owned vehicle must be parked in one of these counties at the end of your work day. The start of your work day will be at 8:00 AM and you will report to the location of your parked state vehicle. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Food Inspector 1, Agriculture (commonwealth title); or Two years of experience in the inspection of food establishments or food processing facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
