The Department of General Services is seeking a dedicated Commodity Specialist with exceptional work ethic. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Commodity Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work closely with COSTARS administrative staff and Procurement commodity teams to identify potential COSTARS contracting activities and to then implement effective contracts for COSTARS members. Work includes collecting and analyzing commodity data and developing commodity profile, as well as collecting and analyzing customer requirements and the ability of suppliers to meet these requirements. Responsibilities include: Participating in the development of an annual Strategic Program Plan Developing contracts and tools that enable COSTARS members to select the products and services they need Providing COSTARS members with pricing information, customer recommendations, contract usage reports, and other facts to assist them in purchasing Developing and maintaining supplier contracts Identifying, establishing goals, and communicating small diverse businesses sourcing opportunities Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 4 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience as a Purchasing Agent (commonwealth title); or One year of experience as a Purchasing Agent Supervisor or Procurement Specialist 1 (commonwealth title); or Five years of strategic procurement experience, which includes researching and evaluating commodities and suppliers; or One year of strategic procurement experience and a bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
