DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will be responsible for providing clerical support to the Permitting Section of the Clean Water Program, in addition to working in tandem with other clerical staff to maintain phone, mail, and general administrative coverage for the 2nd floor within the regional office.  This includes serving as a telephone back-up for other clerical staff and assisting callers by providing information or routing to the necessary individual or section.  You will also input appropriate data in a prescribed format to meet the data quality standards set forth by guidance, training, and policy across all of DEP's electronic data systems.

This professional performs the initial intake process for incoming Clean Water permit applications, as well as answers and directs calls for the Clean Water Program.  Efficient organizational skills are utilized to process incoming mail, which includes opening, date stamping, sorting, and distributing to the appropriate staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week, upon successful completion of the training period.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or Graduation from high school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
