Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a dynamic university team in Hampton, Virginia. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of an educational institution. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Record and maintain accurate journal entries to ensure proper financial documentation.

• Perform bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial transactions.

• Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and payments.

• Handle accounts receivable tasks, such as invoicing and payment tracking.

• Support the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing financial reports.

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure data integrity.

• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline accounting workflows and resolve discrepancies.

• Assist in preparing financial documentation for audits and other compliance requirements. Requirements • A minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or a related field.

• Proficiency in handling accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

• Strong skills in performing bank reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger.

• Experience with preparing and posting journal entries.

• Familiarity with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
