Quality Inspector Position Summary: The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction by developing and executing measurement plans and establishing rigorous inspection standards. With 3-5 years of hands-on machining experience in a job shop environment, the ideal candidate will use their expertise to provide vital feedback to machinists, ensuring all manufactured parts meet both our standards and those of our customers. This role demands proficiency with various measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs, and requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. The Quality Inspector is key to upholding the integrity of our manufacturing processes, enhancing product quality, and driving continuous improvement efforts within our dynamic team environment. Quality Inspector Key Responsibilities: * Effectively use measurement tools and quickly adapt to a variety of customer specifications. * Interpret customer prints and 3D models with proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). * Efficiently develop and execute measurement plans for every part prior to production start, ensuring each meets diverse quality standards. * Conduct thorough inspections, assessing 25-50 features per part to maintain high quality standards. * Work with machinists to troubleshoot and improve production processes for consistent quality. * Apply hands-on machining skills to effectively solve problems and support team efforts. * Instruct machinists on efficient use of inspection equipment both in the quality room and on the shop floor. * Operate CMMs, Vision Systems, and Comparators. * Create First Article Inspection documents, including measurement plans and print ballooning. * Participate in calibration and internal audits as required * Demonstrate full compliance with Fathom s Quality System. * Strictly adhere to all safety protocols. Quality Inspector Qualifications/Requirements: * 3-5 years of machining experience in a job shop environment. * 2 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing. * Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T. * Proficient with calipers, micrometers, and CMMs. * Exceptional attention to detail for measurement planning and part inspection. * Strong communication skills for customer and machinist interactions. * Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure. * Flexible and adept at working in fast-paced team settings. * Basic CNC setup troubleshooting skills. * Proficiency in English reading and writing. * Technical certification or associate degree in a relevant field preferred. * Experience with CAD software like Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks beneficial. * ASQ Certification desirable. * Knowledge of both metric and imperial measurement systems.
