Excet, a Precise Systems Company seeks a Chemist with at least 1 years of experience in small molecule purification and analysis. This position involves various skillsets related to both small molecule downstream processing (i.e., spray dryer, lyophilization, centrifugation, separation chromatography, distillation, filtration, etc.) and analytical chemistry (GC/MS, HPLC, NMR, etc.) and requires dedicated problem-solving/keen attention to detail. In addition to designing and executing isolation processes, the successful applicant will possess a demonstrated aptitude and experience for working both independently and in collaboration with other team members, as this position can span multiple disciplines to include biologists, chemists, chemical engineers, material scientists, etc.

Duties:

• Develop, optimize and execute chemical separations to purify small molecule products derived from fermentation

• Perform chemical analysis including GC-MS, HPLC, NMR, etc. to quantity and qualify product identity, yield and purity; perform routine maintenance of analytical equipment

• Keep detailed records of laboratory operations and compile data in regular technical reports

  Required Education:

• B.S. or M.S. in biology, chemistry, or related field experience

  Required Experience:

• Ability to assist in the development of new bioproduction processes

• Experience in downstream processing (spray dryer, lyophilization, centrifugation, separation, distillation, filtration, etc.)

• Experience in analytical chemistry (GC/MS, HPLC, NMR, etc.)

• Support technology transfer of processes

• Document in laboratory notebooks, authorship of technical reports and standard operating procedures

• Interact as part of an interdisciplinary team

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for audiences with varying technical backgrounds

• Effective time management skills; self-starter; attention to detail

• Ability to independently design and execute experiments; critical thinking/problem solving

  Desired Experience:

• Small molecule separations experience

• Analytical chemistry experience

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply topics outside their area of expertise

  Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
