Field Technician - Columbus, OH Area Job Locations US-OH-Columbus ID 2024-2423 Category Distribution Position Type Full-Time Overview This individual is responsible for conducting on-site inspections of utility poles to assess their condition, identify any potential hazards or defects, and collect relevant data for analysis and maintenance purposes. Responsibilities Due to continued growth we have immediate openings for Field Technicians in the Columbus, OH area. This is a field position, candidates must live in this area. Perform field survey inspections of utility poles to capture all existing distribution and communication attachment information. Identify all overhead components of distribution structures. Including, but not limited to, type, size, height, angle, owner, etc. Identify all overhead communication components and attachments on the structure. Including, but not limited to, type, size, and attachment height. Prepare status reports, project forecasts, and other deliverables in support of on-going engineering efforts for make-ready engineering projects. Drive to various locations throughout Ohio to perform the data collection survey. Perform data collections utilizing various devices, such as, Katapult Pro, iPad, GPS, range finder, cell phone etc. Work areas will include both urban and rural environments, located along public streets, in back yards, utility easements, and within wooded areas, etc. This role can be full-time with benefits, part-time with flexible scheduling or weekends. All shifts will be performed in daylight hours. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years of experience in field work strongly preferred, but not required to be considered. We must have one of the following (can be non-concurrent): Six (6) months of customer service experience, Six months of leadership experience in a club or organization, and/or Prior military experience Must reside in the Central Ohio area (ideally in the greater Columbus and surrounding areas). Ability to travel to various cities within Ohio. Physical requirements include walking outdoors with exposure to conditions caused by the weather. Ability to work within a team environment. Typically, part of a two-person team. Strong communication skills. Customer and/or public interaction will be likely throughout the day.
