WestRock in Greenville, TX is looking for a Team Leader in our Finishing Department.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Assist in the oversight and leadership of the finishing department. Help to ensure the timely production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Responsible for the performance of manual and machine tasks in the set up, operation and maintenance of finishing equipment to accurately produce product to customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Assists with assigning tasks to workers and specific methods of coordinating workflow to meet production schedules.

· Confers with scheduling daily to determine work load and production performance expectations.

· Inspects finished pieces visually to ensure quality product.

· Works with Quality Assurance to monitor output. Takes part in assessing/grading each project for standard deviations and imperfections.

· Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

· Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures.

· Actively engages and participates in company LEAN manufacturing training.

· Communicates and relates with all levels of the organization.

· Assists in staffing machines appropriately to meet workload requirements and productivity standards.

· Reads job tickets to determine setup specifications and instructions; verifies finished product matches the supplied sample.

· Performs routine adjustments during each job and maintains production throughout the run.

· Observes and monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.

· Opens machines and removes/replaces damaged product, using hand tools.

· Performs all assigned work effectively and on schedule.

· Maintains make-ready and run standards while producing quality products.

· Follows instructions accurately.

· Maintains records of daily production, using specified forms.

· Records production information such as amount of time spent on specific tasks.

· Oversees the crew working on the machine.

· Keeps work area neat and clean.

· Trains workers to set up, operate and use machines.

· Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

· Coordinates efforts as part of the team to provide assistance to all co-workers (in all departments) as needed to maximize production efficiencies

· Follows all standard operating procedures, established department policies, work instructions and safety and environmental guidelines

· Perform other job duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.

· Five years’ manufacturing experience with operating equipment comparable to that in our facility.

· Must have demonstrated ability to do the jobs he/she is supervising or to quickly gain a working knowledge of those jobs.

· Strong working knowledge and understanding of finishing processes and equipment; working knowledge of die cutting processes beneficial.

· Must have the ability to foster team work and motivate individual performers.

· Must be able to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.

· Must have effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Must be able to work well in a team environment and independently.

· Must be able to pass color vision test.

· Must be able to pass color hue test.

· Must identify with and support company leadership and decisions.

· Must have the ability to network with peers and associates to build collaborative relationships.

· Must have a passion for the business and personal dedication focused on accomplishing organizational goals.

· Must have a very strong technical knowledge of the finishing operation.

· Must have exceptional mechanical aptitude.

· Must have the ability to problem solve and deal with variables in an environment where only limited standardization exists.

· Knowledge of the following equipment is preferred: International Paperbox finishing equipment, Bobst finishing equipment, Jaugenberg finishing equipment, Hyber-Shroeder window machine, ADA and Thiele tray equipment.

· Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

· Basic computer skills - data entry.

· Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including additions, subtraction, multiplication and division.

· Ability to read a ruler.

· Possess the following competencies: accuracy, reliability, decision making, time management and self motivation.

· Must be able to maintain good attendance.

· Must be able to work the hours as required by the USW collective bargaining agreement.
