Job Description Summary

The Engineering Resource Planning Leader will lead strategic resource planning and ensure optimal alignment between engineering capacity and business demand. This individual will partner closely with engineering leaders, operations and product line to forecast labor and other budgetary needs, optimize resource allocation and implement processes and tools to enable agile business decision making. The Resource Planning Leader will champion standard work to ensure alignment & efficiencies between strategic business resource planning needs and engineering teams operational needs. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of resource management, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineering resource demand planning standard work and process improvements to support short term execution & long term strategic planning based on product development plans, business priorities, and organizational growth objectives.

  • Support annual business planning process (Strategy to Operating Plan) by establishing and leading standard work for engineering strategic resource planning input including labor and other funding needs.

  • Lead the development of long-term and short-term engineering demand forecasts.

  • Align engineering capacity with projected demand, ensuring resources are efficiently allocated across key programs.

  • Continuously assess the gap between demand and available capacity and implement strategies to bridge these gaps proactively.

  • Ensure that engineering teams are fully aligned with business priorities and program timelines through effective demand planning and capacity forecasting.

  • Own Engineering portfolio level basis of estimate models and lead development of subsystem estimating models to support strategic scenario planning & decision making.

  • Develop and implement metrics, dashboards, and reports to track and communicate demand planning performance, capacity utilization KPIs, and resource forecasts.

  • Recommend actionable strategies to optimize engineering capacity, mitigate risks associated with resource shortages and support headcount planning, hiring and skill mix adjustments.

  • Leverage data analytics to drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvement; utilize historical data and trends to predict future resource requirements

  • Support cross functional senior leadership product council; lead scenario planning exercises to intake new programs, react to demand shifts, business priorities, or unexpected changes in engineering capacity

  • Facilitate regular demand versus capacity review sessions with engineering leaders.

  • Evaluate and recommend tools and systems that support demand forecasting, capacity management, and resource planning (e.g., Smartsheet, and other project management software).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Program Management, Engineering or Engineering Operations

Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and communication skills.

  • Proficient in demand planning tools, resource management software, and data analytics platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, Tableau, Excel).

  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to forecast and align demand with engineering capacity.

  • Ability to influence decision-making at senior leadership levels.

  • Experience in demand planning, resource management, or engineering operations, with a strong focus on strategic planning and capacity management

  • Experience with engineering product development process; preferably in Wind Industry

If contracted in the US:

The base pay range for this position is $111,200.00 - 148,300.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This posting is expected to close on 5/12/2025.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
