Summary

As a member of the BSMH Legal Network, Paralegal, working directly with attorneys, performs a variety of the team’s essential duties including, but not limited to management of assigned legal matters for a specific market, support service or entity. Has effective organizational, planning, problem solving, multitasking, technology, analytical, judgment, and administrative skills. Supports 1-3 attorneys, including Assistant General Counsel. This position will produce work of a legal nature, utilizing knowledge and expertise regarding the legal system and substantive and procedural law and the ethical considerations of the legal profession. Interfaces with operational and/or support services leadership and both internal and external clients. Paralegal will primarily work with (i) Greenville Market General Counsel (Assistant General Counsel) to support the legal needs of the Greenville Market (Bon Secours St. Francis) and (ii) Bon Secours Mercy Health supply chain attorneys to support the legal needs to the Bon Secours Mercy Health supply chain team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate and monitor activities to triage work to appropriate person(s).

  • Responsible for review and drafting of agreements, correspondence, memoranda, policies or other communications for assigned legal matters.

  • Investigate the facts, gather and arrange requested documents for attorney needs and provide summaries.

  • Review appropriate correspondence queues, taking appropriate action and documenting the account accordingly.

  • Maintain a repository of templates for various types of documents and contracts.

  • Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing systems including Meditract and I-Manage.

  • Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles.

Employment Qualifications

Education Requirements

Required Minimum Education: Associate's degree with a major in Paralegal studies or related field (prior paralegal experience may be substituted for education)

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree with a major in Paralegal Studies or Degree in Related Field / Paralegal Certificate

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Required: Paralegal Certificate or Degree (prior paralegal experience may be substituted for education/certification)

Preferred: Notary Public

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Three to Five years of related experience required.
