We’re seeking an Equipment and Industrial Engineering Consultant to join our team in Greenville, SC. You’ll have the opportunity to use your vast experience in the industry and apply it to solving today’s challenges.

As an active member of design team, you will communicate the facility requirements to architects and all engineering disciplines. In addition, you will:

  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of client personnel. Assist owners/users in defining requirements for maintenance and industrial facilities including arrangements, material flows, people flows, equipment selection, employee safety, and other aspects of facility design.

  • Participate in conceptual and final design of facilities with emphasis on material and personnel movements, safety, and specific requirements for planned equipment.

  • Develop equipment layouts and required utility services for both contractor supplied and owner furnished industrial and maintenance equipment.

  • Develop equipment lists and schedules that include utility and other facility requirements.

  • Develop procurement specifications for overhead cranes, paint booths, dust collection systems, welding benches, downdraft benches, fueling systems, and a wide range of other industrial equipment.

  • Coordinate and review work of architects and engineering disciplines to assure that facility design will meet owner/user needs. Areas include: electrical power, lighting, data and voice systems, building and fire codes, room finishes, door sizes, HVAC, water supply, special fixtures, drains, fire protection, security, operating clearances, ceiling or clear heights, etc.

  • Facilitate and generally enhance communication between users and design team.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or other related Engineering discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.

  • United States Citizenship.

  • Additional courses and seminars in manufacturing, warehousing, and automation.

  • Familiarity with wide range of industrial processes and equipment including machine tools, finishing systems, assembly practices, welding, etc.,

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements that affect facility design.

  • Knowledge of material handling sufficient to identify problems handling large, long, or delicate items; and to recommend appropriate handling equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, specialty vehicles, carts, etc.,

  • Industrial crane experience (bridge cranes, jib cranes, workstation cranes) sufficient to recommend crane types and features for specific applications; coordinate clearances, structural loads, and electrical loads with other design disciplines; prepare specifications; and review vendor submittals.

  • Experience interfacing with Navy Crane Center would be a plus.

  • Knowledge of warehousing practices including activity rates, management systems, storage and pick procedures sufficient to recommend types of storage for specific applications including conventional systems, high density systems, and automated systems and to size/specify these systems.

  • Good communication skills with all levels of client personnel and with architects and design engineers including ability to translate requirements and concepts between users and designers.

  • Good observation skills to understand user facilities based on walk-throughs and to highlight potential needs or issues that users may not have mentioned.

  • Ability and interest to respond to and research unique problems and requirements.

  • Experience reviewing vendor submittals.

  • AutoCAD or REVIT capability would be a plus.
