BASIC PURPOSE

Operate a Class A CDL truck to transport product to designated locations, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate a Class A CDL truck; drive and deliver customer orders according to determined route schedule. Drive backhauls as needed.

  • Perform all required safety checks including inspections of truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.

  • Communicate and interact with customers and co-workers professionally.

  • Comply with all safe working practices, policies, and processes. Consistently follow all DOT regulations and company policies

  • Perform all pre-trip responsibilities thoroughly, completely, and accurately.

  • Drive to and deliver customer orders to meet the scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meet delivery schedules. Use electronic time keeping system to log in time at customer site.

  • As needed support unloading of product or complete other responsibilities to support the customer.

  • Verify delivery of correct items with customer and obtain proper signatures and follow established procedures.

  • Complete necessary training

  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION : N/A

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal : Transportation supervisors, Transportation Manager, and Transportation Administration and Fleet Maintenance personnel

  • External : Customers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to work overtime as needed with or without notice, as well as over the road

  • Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class A issued by the state of legal residence with the necessary endorsements and be DOT qualified.

  • All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

EDUCATION / TRAINING

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Basic Reading, Writing, and Math Skills

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.

RELATED EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS

Minimum one-year commercial driving experience

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse, complete DOT and Company requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, perform job safely, interact well with customers

  • Minimum one-year commercial driving experience

  • Must be able to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for the position.

  • Adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
