JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and distributing information from a variety of sources, such as law enforcement databases, surveillance footage, intelligence networks, social media and geographic information systems; reviews and analyzes all incident reports and field contacts in RMS looking for crime series, trends and/or patterns; and maps crime patterns, trends, series and field contacts.
Pay Range: $48,239.99 - $55,916.21 Paygrade: P28
Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates and uses multiple sources of information as a part of the analytic process.
Uses computerized visualizations and analytic tools.
Identifies and applies various analytic techniques within the analytic process.
Applies privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties protections within the analytic process and to analytic products such as application of the 28 CFR Part 23 regulation and the handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
Liaises with peers, other agency representatives, and professional organizations.
Identifies threats facing the community, the state, and the nation.
Assesses source and information reliability and validity.
Develops recommendations and conclusions.
Identifies gaps in information and recommendations.
Writes reports and products that are relevant and useful to the consumer.
Identifies means for product outreach.
Records, tracks, and follows up on incoming correspondence and action documents to ensure timely response or actions consistent with agency policies and all applicable state statutes.
Analyzes collected data and/or statistical reports, detects and establishes valid crime patterns and trends, incorporates this information into pertinent agency publications as appropriate and disseminates these publications to specified individuals, units, and other law enforcement agencies in accordance with agency policies/procedures.
Generates valid and reliable descriptive statistics, classifying and categorizing criminal activity with regard to frequency of occurrence, location, type of crime, demographics.
Evaluates the usefulness of disseminated crime data information to determine if significant changes in criminal activity has occurred.
Conducts comprehensive research and will utilize the results to attempt to develop possible suspects and suspect vehicles as appropriate. Information developed will be disseminated to the appropriate investigator in accordance with agency procedures.
Produces and updates accurate crime maps illustrating various details/characteristics of crimes/criminal activity in order to provide useful and timely information for proactive targeting/reducing crime.
Develops, updates as required, and maintains an accurate database of criminal activity by location, date, and classification.
Identifies target areas/locations for increased patrol activity based on accurate analyses of crime data and other information resources with the goal of minimizing criminal activity in specific areas/locations.
Disseminates, requests, receives and/or investigates confidential information concerning criminal activity in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Maintains the confidentiality of the information while utilizing it in accordance with agency policies/procedures and applicable state and federal laws that regulate confidential intelligence information gathering and dissemination.
Assists other agencies/divisions in conducting criminal investigations by sharing information, expertise and/or other investigative resources as appropriate while keeping their supervisor apprised of the nature and specifics of the request for assistance.
Monitor the CrimeNtel program, ensuring that all intelligence submitted by agency members is distributed to the appropriate areas and maintained in accordance with 28 CFR Part 23 and agency policy.
Responds to emergency and call out situations to provide timely and pe tinent information to command staff and team leaders.
Researches and gathers intelligence/information on known offenders to solve criminal cases and/or proactively preempt criminal activity.
Develops, produces, and distributes bulletins depicting accurate information/illustrations/photographs to assist in locating wanted/missing individual(s) consistent with agency policies.
Develops, maintains, and updates as required resource files on various groups/individuals in order to conduct effective preventative threat analyses consistent with agency policies.
Maintain the integrity of intelligence records by maintaining the physical security of the records, reviewing existing files to ensure appropriate content, purging obsolete files and disseminating intelligence data in a manner that is consistent with agency policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines for the dissemination of intelligence information.
Reviews current criminal intelligence information on a regular basis as specified by agency policies/procedures to determine if any potential leads can be developed regarding an ongoing investigation. The member will follow up on any new information as appropriate.
Utilizes all available law enforcement and community resources to accurately identify and monitor prior offenders, gang members, or extremist groups' activities/presence in the community with the goal of preventing potential criminal activities and without violating the constitutional rights of the individual(s) consistent with agency policies.
Forwards tip line information to the appropriate bureau, department, and/or personnel in a timely manner.
Collects and analyzes information and intelligence in order to develop optimal operational plans.
Provides accurate and pertinent real time intelligence and information to appropriate members.
Runs and submits monthly UCR reports to FDLE.
Communicates with Patrol and Investigations for report corrections.
Daily completion of name candidating for incident reports.
Name merging (merge name screens in name module).
Responsible for OD Mapping project.
Case management review with Patrol and Investigations.
Processes applicable incoming and outgoing documents and/or files in a timely manner consistent with supervisory direction and/or agency policies/procedures.
Participates in cross-training with other co-workers; assists those co-workers when the need arises and learns new tasks by working together as a team.
Reports identified or potential maintenance, safety, and/or non-compliance findings, hazards, and incidents to the appropriate personnel and/or department.
Timely completes all assignments, special projects, and budgetary requirements (if applicable) as directed, adhering to applicable agency policies.
Adheres to leave and attendance policies, including punctual arrival and completing full shifts. Informs the supervisor about illness or untimely incidents, reports overtime hours worked, and timely submits timesheet, attendance, and leave requests.
