JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Chief Operations Officer is responsible for ensuring safe, secure and well-maintained buildings; ensuring students receive healthy and nutritious meals, and providing safe and reliable transportation to and from school. The Chief Operations Officer has oversight of and supervises the following departments: Facilities/Grounds, Food Service, Procurement/Warehouse, Transportation, and Technology. The Chief Operations Officer is a member of the Superintendent\'s Senior Leadership Team and Cabinet. Supervises and evaluates the leadership for the following departments: Food Service, Facilities/Grounds, Procurement/Warehouse, Transportation, and Technology. Takes corrective measures as needed. Selects, orients, develops and counsels staff. Works in consultation with District Department leaders to administer cost effective services, responsive to student and staff needs. Supervises the District\'s property and casualty insurance program. Interprets state and federal regulations and District policy. Responds to stakeholder and community concerns related to: Food Service, Facilities/Grounds, Procurement, Insurance, Transportation, and Technology. Supervises the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of all school facilities, properties, and equipment. Ensures that departments are aware of emerging developments, changes in the laws, etc. through participation in workshops, conferences and reading materials. Provides recommendations to the Board of Education regarding matters related to facilities including but not limited to: educational space leases, short and long term facility planning and space utilization, property and liability insurance, child nutrition, technology, and student transportation. Coordinates Facilities Master Planning activities. Develops and administers budgets. Establishes standards and ensures excellence in customer service. Develops and maintains an ongoing list of all building projects and ensures project alignment to the strategic plan initiatives that support student achievement. Provides oversight of the implementation of District policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility. Provides oversight for the District\'s referendum projects. Accurately completes and files necessary reports for local, state and federal agencies. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications Required: Education: Bachelor\'s Degree Experience: Five (5) years successful experience leading at a senior level; demonstrated track record of successful project and administrative management in one or more of the following areas: facilities, food service, insurance, procurement, technology, finance, or transportation. Knowledge/Skills: Thorough knowledge of principles of supervision, organization and administration Ability to exercise considerable tact and courtesy in interactions; Ability to plan, develop and implement effective programs and systems; Ability to express ideas orally and in writing and make oral presentations in front of large groups; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders as necessitated by the work.
