Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a temporary project with a leading retail company. This is a critical role where you will apply your expertise in accounting and finance to support the organization’s operations during a peak period or special initiative. Key Responsibilities:
Manage general ledger accounts, including preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries.
Conduct detailed account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing insights to management.
Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely reporting.
Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting discrepancies and streamline processes.
Review inventory accounting, costing, and variance reports specific to retail operations.
Provide support for audits by preparing schedules and addressing auditor requests.
Analyze financial performance and trends, contributing to decision-making processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail or a similar industry.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP principles and accounting processes.
Advanced proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle) and strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with various stakeholders.
Familiarity with retail accounting, inventory management systems, and cost accounting methodologies.
Prior experience supporting finance projects, system implementations, or process improvements.
