The general role of the Hydroseeder Unit Leader/Erosion Control Specialist-Civil is to provide leadership and guidance to all civil personnel working on various industrial and commercial excavation projects. The Hydroseeder Unit Leader/Erosion Control Specialist is a hands-on position and as such, provides physical labor and support to Civil personnel when necessary. This is considered a skilled position that requires construction knowledge and aptitude, along with basic knowledge of construction trades. This position will possess an aptitude and knowledge for all materials and processes utilized in erosion control and hydroseeding.

This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial construction and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

The Hydroseeder Unit Leader/Erosion Control Specialist-Civil will report to the Group Manager-Civil and will work primarily out of the Beitzel Corporate location.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hydroseeding and erosion control
  • Manage a small, dedicated hydroseeding crew and maintain safety standards set by the Company
  • Responsible for purchasing proper seed, mulch, soil amendments (fertilizer and lime), and erosion control materials for each job
  • Accurately calculate and measure the amount of materials needed for the job
  • Proactively check and maintain the stabilization of soil immediately after disturbance
  • Communicate and coordinate with site superintendents and project managers to maintain site compliance regularly
  • Maintain clear and organized records of hydroseeding activities
  • Record daily hydroseeding/erosion control activities and accurately report results to management
  • Maintain all necessary equipment including a Company vehicle, and all tools/materials provided by the Company
  • Provide feedback for performance reviews as needed

Qualifications
  • Hydroseeding and Erosion Control Experience
  • Operate and preform basic maintenance of hydroseeding equipment
  • Knowledge of seed mixes, soil amendments, stabilization types and materials
  • Driving Truck and Trailer (CDL preferred)
  • Knowledge of excavation standards and equipment required
  • Strong knowledge of soil conditions and scenarios
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply technical expertise, ev luate problems and implement best practices
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
  • Compute basic math calculations and take measurements in order to accurately estimate supplies needed for a job
  • Aptitude for leadership
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
  • Able to work independently and in team environments
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to succeed in a high output environment
