Position Summary
This position will lead CAPEX and OPEX execution and engineering excellence through the leadership of a multi-discipline engineering team. The Engineering Manager will direct a team of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, controls engineers and design drafting functions at the Aiken PSR/LTR Plant location. Develop and monitor capital, mechanical service and departmental budget spending. Responsible for the coordination of the project engineering section with other divisional sections, production, service and staff departments. Delegation for Plant Engineer as necessary.
Responsibilities
Management
Plan and advise on annual department budgets and manage yearly expense to the finalized budget.
Support reporting teammates to successfully meet project deliverables OTOS
Support establishing and achieving the scope, schedule and budget on projects, including safety and quality requirements.
Oversees continuous improvement, automation and implementation of best practice activities.
Supports relationships through effective communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Influences, coaches and develops direct reports/teams.
Assign projects and follow-up on progress.
Supervise the preparation of cost estimates for refinement and modernization programs.
Direct the preparation of detailed cost analysis and schedules for projects.
Prepare presentations and present estimates, timelines, budgets, and programs to plant/corporate management.
Verifies projects are compliant with international, national and local codes (electrical/fire/safety)
Update and re-evaluate the cost and schedules for project.
Prepare and deliver monthly BAMG update presentations for applicable projects.
Coordinate proper personnel and resources to assure adequate and correct project progress.
Review project and drafting backlogs, establish priorities and obtain additional resources if needed.
Conduct annual performance management of subordinates, including regular check-ins and feedback.
Hiring of engineering staff and onboarding of new hires.
Operational
Provide the following reports and/or information to management as required
Engineering backlog
Project schedules
CAPEX and OPEX expense budget updates
Spending forecast for budgets
Priorities and status information
Shutdown plans and project lists
Provide emergency engineering assistance to the plant as necessary
Schedule and track engineering activities to accomplish objectives
Interface with other plant staff to ensure proper priorities are established for project planning process
Track and analyze spending to provide timely forecast for management planning
Write procedures to document work process for ISO/QS standards
Strategic
Engineering division strategic planning which is an integral part of the yearly plant strategic plan and is a prerequisite for the budget process
Prepare plant project scenarios for management
Fixed Asset Management
Forecast re-occurring rebuilds and change-outs for strategic budget planning
Analyze plant equipment condition and make recommendations for upgrades
Coordinate with plant leadership for prioritization of capital investment projects
Make risk assessment studies and prepare emergency contingency planning
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
7+ Years of engineering experience
5+ years manufacturing experience
3-5+ years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
or
BSME/BSEE w/ Master's degree (MBA or MS)
Engineering and/or maintenance management experience in tire plants
4+ years of relevant experience including 2-4 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
