MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Maintenance Tech in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.
The Maintenance Technician plays a versatile and important role in MPS’ success. The role is responsible for ensuring the operation of the fulfillment system – to include components of the conveyor system (belts, motors, drives, controls, scales, etc), material handling equipment, warehouse vehicles, and power equipment. Additionally, the role performs maintenance tasks as needed to maintain facilities infrastructure systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on conveyor systems, motors, drives, and associated warehouse equipment (Baler, shrink wrap machine, storage racks, etc) to ensure availability and safe operation. Problem solve system/equipment issues and malfunctions through observing operations; leveraging operations/maintenance manuals; and consulting with team members, as needed.
Correct and repair equipment problems using manufacturer’s guidelines, prescribed precision measuring and testing instruments, appropriate repair parts as necessary
Perform limited maintenance, repair, upgrades, overhauls to facility systems: electrical; plumbing; heating and air conditioning; doors (both entry and dock); fire/safety; security
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly working environment; adhere to established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage; maintain technical knowledge through review of technical publications, attending training/educational workshops (as necessary), and through personal networks

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three years related experience
Essential:
Technical experience/knowledge in at least one of the following core functions:
Electrical
Mechanical
Plumbing
Heating and air systems
Carpentry
Construction
Desirable:
Ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings/schematics
Problem solving/Trouble shooting
Basic understanding of safety/OSHA
Teamwork
