TDA Research Summer Chemistry Lab Internship in Golden, Colorado
TDA is located outside Denver, Colorado with offices in Wheat Ridge and Golden. We have a staff of 100+ mainly engineers and scientists who develop cutting edge chemical processes, materials, and hardware for customers in the defense, aerospace, energy and chemical industries.
TDA is seeking a highly qualified Chemistry Lab Intern with a passion for developing advanced technologies and translating them into real-world applications. The Chemistry Lab Intern will be responsible for running laboratory tests on new firefighting foam formulations, dry chemical agents, and defoaming agents under the supervision of a staff chemist. This job will consist of a variety of duties throughout the week. The intern may also occasionally be asked to complete various internal research tasks either on their own or in a group.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Implementing an assigned project, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of the group
Perform hands-on tasks and experimentation in a laboratory setting, including:
Formulating and sample preparation
Benchtop wet chemistry
Foam synthesis and characterization
Small-scale fire extinguishment tests
Operation and maintenance of analytical instruments
General support to team for sample preparation, data entry, analysis and reporting
Assist with other duties as communicated by supervisor and rotate among multiple work stations
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of fundamental chemical concepts and properties
Demonstrated general laboratory experience and exposure to analytical and organic chemistry
Excellent chemical hygiene
Work well with an interdisciplinary team with various technical backgrounds
Ability to collaborate with team members in a laboratory setting
Willing to take direction and work independently to support team goals
Ability to follow instructions with an attention to detail
Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
Strong work ethic
Adaptability and an aptitude for learning are critical in this role
High school Diploma or G.E.D.
Wet lab research experience: 1 year (Preferred)
Physical Demands:
Lift 40 pounds
Sit, stand, or kneel for extended periods of time
Ascend and descend stairs and ladders
May require ability to use dust mask or respirator (no facial hair for fitting)
Staff are expected to work on several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Therefore, flexibility and an ability to learn new techniques quickly are essential. Teamwork, collaboration, and clear communication are also important as the employee will need to interface with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists.

Pay rate is $20.00 per hour, without benefits as this is a Summer Internship and temporary.
