Glendive Medical Center Laundry Worker/Environmental Service Tech in Glendive, Montana

In this position you will be crossed trained between two departments; Laundry and Environmental Services. In the laundry role, you are responsible for processing linen consisting of personal clothing and hospital style linen for Glendive Medical Center (GMC). This includes sorting of linen by type/style, running washer/extractor, folding by machine or hand, and delivery of linen/personal clothing. The Laundry Worker must ensure machines are in proper condition and are responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of chemical and maintaining a clean and safe laundry environment. Performs duties efficiently with a commitment to quality and excellence. Must comply with the Department of Health, OSHA, CDC, NFPA, Joint Commission standards and Glendive Medical Center policies.
Environmental Services Tech is responsible for the cleanliness throughout the facility in patient rooms, resident's rooms, waiting rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices in administrative areas, as well as GMC owned apartments off campus when assigned. Performs frequent disinfecting of high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of infections. Maintains daily cleaning of floors in their assigned areas. Using the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) that meets hospital standards, performs garbage and bio-hazard pickup and disposal in a precise way to ensure the safety, health and morale of patients, visitors and employees by providing a clean, attractive, safe environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Laundry Worker:
Follows established policies and procedures of department and organization.
Provides laundry and linen services throughout GMC.
Maintains open communication with the Laundry Supervisor as well as other departments to provide quality service for the patient/resident and co-workers.
Sorts, washes, dries, folds, stacks, and distributes processed linen throughout GMC.
Operates washers, dryers, folding machines, and other equipment as needed.
Assists in orientation of new team members and coordination of daily tasks in a kind, professional, and patient manner.
Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the laundry department.
Upholds all safety rules and complies with all state and federal requirements.
Completes assigned duties and tasks.
Attends and participates in in-service education.
Follows other directives as requested by the Laundry Supervisor.
Assists in choosing and ordering supplies and linens for the facility.
Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
Environmental Service Tech:
Uses cleaning cart to transport cleaning supplies.
Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout assigned areas.
Cleans all furniture in assigned areas, following established procedures for housekeeping standards and infection control.
Replenishes supplies.
Cleans and disinfects bathrooms.
Clean and disinfects patient rooms.
Cleans and disinfects kitchen and dining areas.
Cleans offices and conference rooms.
Cleans and polishes stainless steel, glass panels in doors/windows and cleans window screens.
Cleans walls, windowsills, mini-blinds, and divider curtains.
Cleans and frequently disinfecting of high-touch surfaces.
Vacuums and cleans floors, rugs, and carpets.
Places and neatly tucks clean sheets and blankets on beds and replaces pillowcases.
Empties trash baskets, cleans trash baskets, and replaces plastic liners in assigned area.
Clean GMC owned apartments.
Attends mandatory in-services and/or meetings.
Completes basic record keeping regarding areas worked and work performed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School or equivalent is preferred. Must have good reading and writing skills.
Experience is preferred. On-the-job training is provided.
Ability to read, write and do math as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds on the soiled side.
