Job Title: Production Operator

Job Description

This entry-level position within the manufacturing area is primarily responsible for performing weigh-up or packaging duties within the production department. The role ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Get job assignments from the production board and collect batch tickets.

  • Collect ingredients from allocation for the orders.

  • Put dry ingredients into tumbler to semi-mix color, then transfer material to manualized mixer for complete dispersion. Alternatively, mix liquid color for the prescribed time until the batch is fully mixed.

  • Provide a sample and the batch ticket to quality control.

  • Make any corrections and remix if deemed necessary by quality control.

  • For dry color: Make labels for the order with the proper lot number and color information, apply to bags and packing boxes, put product in bags to required weight, remove air from bags, seal bags with heat sealer, and package all bags in labeled Ziploc bags and pack into shipping boxes, secure them, and place on pallet for shipping.

  • For liquid color: Make labels for the order with the proper lot number and color information, apply to bottles and packing boxes, put product in bottles to required weight, secure caps on bottles, apply QC sticker over cap for warranty protection, and package all bottles in boxes, secure them, and place on pallet for shipping.

  • Ensure all paperwork is complete before moving the order to shipping.

  • Move completed orders to the assigned areas for shipping.

  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace.

  • Adhere to all safety policies and wear personal protective equipment.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in production, machine operation, general labor, production and manufacturing, forklift, and general production.

  • Ability to work safely and follow safety policies.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

  • Ability to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

  • Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to read at a level of comprehension sufficient to meet job requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred forklift experience.

  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

  • Flexibility in shifts is a plus.

  • Bilingual preferred, but not required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to marked changes in temperature and humidity, dust, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Be aware that in this position you will be working with powdered colorants and more often than not, you will be grimy and dirty at the end of the day. Physical demands include the need to see, talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the day, as well as the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 200 lbs. with the aid of equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Glendale, Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
