Adjunct Faculty, Developmental Reading - Department of Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Education, College of Education

This is a part-time, adjunct position with the possibility of renewal on a term-by-term basis. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in our reading/literacy programs. We offer two developmental reading courses for Rowan students depending on their Accuplacer score, Improving Personal Reading Skills and Critical Thinking and Reading of Academic Texts. Both courses focus on comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, study skills, and decision making across a broad spectrum of academic majors.

Qualifications:

Required

· Master’s degree or higher in literacy or reading

· A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in P-12 settings or working with adult literacy.

· Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility,

and social justice

· Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality,

professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people.

· A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education.
