Gladstone Motel Guest Room Attendant in Gladstone, Michigan

A Housekeeper needs to clean the work area to the standards of their employer. This requires attention to detail, physical strength and the stamina to work long shifts. Here are examples of a Housekeeper's duties:

  • Undergo training and sign the company's contract
  • Understand the company's policy on work shifts, guest's possessions and privacy issues
  • Provide basic housekeeping duties including changing the sheets. Cleaning and disinfecting guest bathrooms vanities, shower/bathtubs, commodes and tile floor. Changing and arranging the towels, restocking toilet supplies, vacuuming, dusting and rearranging the room after guests check out
  • Report and return any guest properties found in the rooms while rendering service
  • Report cases of property damage in commercial spaces to supervisor
  • Work with a team of housekeepers on each shift
  • Clean, disinfect and store all equipment at the end of the shift
  • Maintain a positive relationship with employees and guests
  • Monitor and report on the inventory of cleaning supplies
  • Respond to calls for housekeeping problems, such as spills and broken glass
  • Collect and remove trash and debris
  • Assist with laundry management, including washing, drying, ironing and sorting linen
  • Report, turn in and log all lost and found items
  • Clean upholstered furniture
  • Perform detailed deep cleans when required

Cleans hotel areas including, but not limited to, guestrooms, lobby, corridors, elevators, laundry facilities, house laundry, stairways, exterior, etc. according to company standards and within required time frames. Replenishes supplies such as bathroom necessities, drinking glasses, linen and terry, etc. in various areas such as guest rooms and restrooms. Transports trash and waste to disposal area. Stocks, organizes, and maintains housekeeping carts and equipment. Always greets guests in a warm, friendly manner. Strictly adheres to safety & security policies to ensure personal safety, safety of the guest and their belongings, and company property. Use all materials, chemicals, and tools safely to avoid injury, waste, unnecessary damage, or accidents. Understands and complies with brand/company uniform policies.

Additional Duties:

House Laundry: sorting, washing, drying, folding, and storing company linen and terry. Cleaning and organizing of the House and Commercial Laundry areas.

Housekeeper Experience Requirements

A successful Housekeeper will have a heightened level of awareness and attention to detail. This skill is important so they can clean hidden places that hold dust and dirt. The job also requires a certain level of physical strength, so the ideal candidate will be fit enough to walk and bend for extended periods. They may also have to lift heavy items and use the staircase multiple times during shifts.

An experienced Housekeeper is adept at time management because they must quickly prepare rooms before guests check in. Another attribute of a great Housekeeper is uniformity. They can recreate the same settings with little or no supervision.
