Position Overview:

The Quality Control Gauge Technician position is responsible for testing the density of asphalt while following safety and operational guidelines. This is a full-time position that requires overtime through peak season, reports to the area superintendent, and has no supervisory responsibility.

    General Duties and Functions:

  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects

  • Be aware of and familiar with the Company Handbook

  • Maintain cleanliness of gauge, test, and document densities of asphalt during production

  • Assist in rolling patterns to maximize density

  • Actively participate in any recommended or mandatory training

  • Additional duties as assigned by management, as this job description is non-exhaustive

  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours)

    Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Troubleshoot, identify, correct, and prevent quality control issues

  • The ability to work independently

  • Perform field testing of asphalt with a non-nuclear density gauge

  • Maintain Quality Control recordkeeping

  • Maintain Quality Control equipment

  • Maintain safe practices at all times and report injuries to management as necessary

  • Understand rolling patterns and the need for different types of rollers (breakdown, pneumatic, finish rollers)

    Position Requirements:

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test

  • Preferred state DOT Certifications

  • Microsoft Office Skills

  • Basic level of reasoning abilities (i.e. Meeting deadlines, Prioritize Company and customer needs, serving as a leader to both peers and direct reports)

  • Strong mathematical skills (i.e. Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide)

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach below/at/above shoulders
