GILL Food Service Site Supervisor The Cafeteria Site Supervisor provides leadership within the food service department, with an emphasis on fostering a positive attitude, teamwork and communication among staff members. The cafeteria site supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the assigned site and assists the food services manager with the long-range planning of the district\'s food services. While working under the direction of the food services manager, the cafeteria site supervisor must demonstrate flexibility, being prepared to do whatever is necessary to ensure the responsible, efficient and effective operation of her/his site. GENERAL FUNCTIONS Provides leadership at the cafeteria site Advises and communicates with the food service manager any comments, concerns, criticisms, thoughts or ideas that will lead to the improvement of food service operations at the site or district level Maintains accurate daily, weekly, and monthly financial records and reports Demonstrates the ability to utilize current computer hardware and software technology for the purposes of generating accurate data relevant to the food services department Communicates effectively with all food service staff, central office and district staff Provides first level response for all cafeteria emergencies, and immediately contacts food services manager for further instruction Assists the food service manager in generating accurate statistics for free and reduced meals eligibility Recognizes the importance of free and reduced meals eligibility statistics in district funding and takes steps to ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting Job Requirements Reports to work on time, dressed in clean, neat clothing and an apron. Clothing and hygiene are to be in accordance with standards set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Appearance is to be professional at all times. Workers are to remain on premises for the entirety of the work day except in emergencies as reported to and excused by their respective manager. Ensures that the menu and meal patterns are in compliance with USDA regulations. Takes the initiative and responsibility for ongoing improvements and practices at the cafeteria site and district levels. Counts daily receipts and prepares daily financial reports, which accurately reflect meals served, monies received/deposited and weekly time sheets. Reports are to be submitted to the food services manager at the end of business on Fridays. Utilizes computer point of sale system (POS) and other management software to generate daily, weekly, monthly and annual sales and financial reports. Demonstrates the ability to train cafeteria assistants to use the POS system. Deposits receipts at bank at the end of each business day, unless otherwise directed by the food services manager. Orders all supplies needed from the food services manager, or from specific vendors. Places orders for milk and bread with specified vendors. Receives, verifies and stores all shipments received. Reports all equipment maintenance needs to the food service manager. Reports absences and schedules substitute workers. Prepares and serves breakfast. Oversees and participates as required in the preparation of the main and alternate meals of the day. Prepares accompaniments including condiments, fruits, vegetables, breads and desserts as needed. Oversees and participates as required in the cleaning and sanitation of all counters, workstations, kitchen floors, food prep equipment and table tops in the dining area. Ensures that all cleaning and sanitation is in accordance with ServSafe, federal, state and local health codes. Schedules, plans and coordinates any extra curricular events involving the cafeteria site. Maintains a positive and professional relationship with students, faculty and staff at all times. Without sacrificing professionalism, has fun whenever possible. Fosters an environment that is e joyable for all.
