The Tactical Space Systems Division is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to work within the mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) section in our Gilbert, Arizona facility.
This role will work with MGSE engineering and Integration and Test managers across Gilbert product lines to drive design, analysis, integration and delivery of MGSE to support Satellite Manufacturing Facility operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to other engineers within the MGSE section
Ability to Lead MGSE development and work as an individual contributor performing detailed MGSE design and utilizing modeling CREO parametric Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document designs
Lead major MGSE proposals, perform cost and schedule planning for MGSE projects and deliver ROMs and BOEs
Review of completed analyses and drawings to ensure designs and analysis conform to MGSE standards
Coordination and communication with customers, programs, Integration and Test (I&T), functional management, other engineering disciplines and component suppliers
Drive strategy and process improvement within the MGSE section
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 14 years of experience; 12 years with Master’s degree; 9 years with PhD.
U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance
Demonstrated experience with working with external customer to meet program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
Experience leading mechanical engineering teams with demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, and written/verbal communication skills
Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as CREO Parametric or similar
Experience for Systems Engineering/Life Cycle Design, GD&T, and manufacturing
Experience mentoring/leading junior engineers
Experience generating Model Based Drawings with application of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standard.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes and applications (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.).
Experience generating Basis of Estimates in support of mechanical engineering proposals
Combination of knowledge and experience in the following areas: complex integration and qualification/acceptance testing, product development including mechanical design and analysis, materials
Demonstrated ability to make difficult technical decisions with data driven judgment.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current DoD Top Secret Clearance
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience designing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment
Experience working Space Vehicle Design or Integration and Test
Advocate and lead efforts in Digital Transformation initiatives, and process improvements.
Experienced and trained in Earned Value Management and Cost Account Management (CAM)
Salary Range: $149,000.00 - $184,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
