The Role

The Field Application Scientist (FAS) provides scientific expertise, applications support, and training to customers on Thermo Fisher Scientific's products through a variety of interfaces including in-person, phone, and email communications. The FAS partners with sales reps in the field to deliver pre and post sales-related customer support and solves customer concerns optimally. The ideal candidate will act as a trusted expert to our customers, thereby growing customer happiness and dedication, as well as contributing to the overall success of the business.

This customer focused position is ideal for an expert technologist wanting to be involved with a diverse team, demonstrating the strength of our technology, helping the customers to tackle their characterization challenges and communicating between internal and external partners. This role is working on top high end TEM and is exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas working together with the leading scientists and laboratories.

This dynamic position involves providing scientific training, demonstration, mentorship, application support/troubleshooting and Technical sales/marketing support.

Our Life Science Application Specialists are responsible for the customer training and deliver on-site application to life science within a defined territory, serving customers engaged in academic, pharmaceutical, biomedical, and other fields of research and development. The Life Science Specialists maintain effective customer relations, develop opportunities for growth within an existing customer base, and assure market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit forecasts. Key responsibilities will be:

We will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by remote support station, phone and email, serving as a trusted advisor. In doing so, we will help to increase customer happiness and build dedication and chip in to the overall success of the business.

• Support multiple research sales representatives by providing information specific to life science, including technical information, product recommendations for customer applications, and other life science support

• Deliver on-site application support & training support to our customers on our leading Life Science products, TEM and SDB

• Perform demonstrations at customer or NanoPort sites

• Providing technical product expertise assistance during all phases of the sales cycle.

• Encouraging positive customer relationships, giving in depth technical presentations, and assisting in applications development.

• Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.

• Provide feedback to engineering on system performance, features and problems.

• Recommend and advise on direction for potential applications consistent with customer requirements and technical feasibility. Positively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times throughout customer locations

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, preferably M.S.

• 3+ years of experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry or lab experience

• Strong technical and lab experience in molecular, protein and/or cell biology

• Having knowledge in Cryo-TEM could be advantageous
