We are seeking the immediate hire of a Senior Combination Building Inspector for Cobb County, Georgia.

The person in the role will work under the direction of the Georgia Business Unit Manager and is subject to annual performance evaluations. The Inspector will performing daily technical inspections on residential and commercial construction projects to enforce compliance with building codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled assignments between from 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

  • Completes daily duties responsibly and safely with respect to private and personal property.

  • Communicates proactively with coworkers, partners, clients, and the general public as needed.

  • Maintains detailed records and reports of all inspections and compliance cases.

  • Assists client staff and teammates with additional tasks as needed.

  • Maintains files, answers phone calls, and schedules inspections.

  • Stays up-to-date on work-related knowledge needed to maintain ICC certifications and professional credentials. Obtains addition certifications, completes training, and consistently studies codes and standards.

Requirements:

We will consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this job.

  • Minimum education required: High school graduate or GED. Additional training, certification, or education in building inspection, structural engineering, or related fields is preferred.

  • Valid Georgia Driver's license.

  • ICC Building Official certification (required).

  • ICC Master Code Professional certification (required).

  • 10+ years of building inspection experience (preferred).

  • GSWCC Level IB Inspector (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, building inspection methods and techniques and construction materials, methods and techniques.

  • Solid knowledge of erosion and sedimentation control laws and Best Management Practices.

  • Ability to communicate well with all kinds of people, no matter the setting or medium. Able to establish and maintain relationships no matter the situation.

  • Technically savvy. Deftly operates work-related technology such as laptops, tablets, and iPhones. Able to use software such as Microsoft Office.

  • Critical thinker and problem solver who can also follow directions.

  • Maintains a professional appearance, attitude, and conduct.

  • Self-disciplined and able to work independently without direct supervision.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
