    Tug Boat Captain Position Description As a tugboat captain, you train the crew of your boat, oversee the boat's operations, communicate with other vessels, and ensure that all functions are proceeding as they should.

    • Overall responsibility for the safety and management of crew and vessel.

    • Stand wheelhouse watch on assigned vessel.

    • Preparation, management and facilitation of safety meetings and safety drills.

    • Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and/or Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)

    • Comply with all State, Federal and Maritime Laws.

    • Reports on time and with the right materials.

    • Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Qualifications:

    • 5 Years of total experience with at least 2 Years as a Captain.

    • Effective verbal and written communication, and advanced computer skills essential.

    • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and attributes.

    • CPR/AED Certified.

    • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check and physical.

    • Position requires long periods of standing, walking, climbing, stooping and bending. Position also requires periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds.

    • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.

    • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

    • Merchant Mariners Credentials (MMC).

    • Masters of Towing Endorsement.

    • Transportation Working Identification Credential (TWIC).

    • Must be able to tolerate rough seas, harsh weather, vibrations, confined spaces and high noise.
