Job Description

Position Summary

The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for the oversight and strategic direction of the Facilities (Maintenance) Departments across all assigned locations within the health system. This role ensures that all maintenance and building operations align with organizational values, departmental Standard Operating Procedures, and all applicable regulatory standards. The manager leads and supports services that impact facility and environmental conditions, ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-performing infrastructure that supports the health system’s mission. This position supervises teams including Groundskeeping, Maintenance, Mechanics, and the Construction Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership and management for all facilities and maintenance activities across designated sites.

  • Supervise and support departmental staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies including The Joint Commission and the New York State Department of Health.

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of facilities-related projects, including construction, renovations, and preventive maintenance.

  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance and operational efficiency.

  • Promote collaboration and communication across departments to support system-wide goals.

Qualifications

  • Technical training in electrical and/or HVAC systems required.

  • Associate degree in Facilities Management or related field preferred.

  • Certification in healthcare facility management (e.g., ASHE) preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities, operations, or maintenance management, preferably within a healthcare or multi-site environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with maintenance management software is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in healthcare facilities.

  • Excellent leadership, project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

  • Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record per Finger Lakes Health policy.

Salary Range

$87,103 – $111,017 annually based on experience
