Salary : Salary pay range is min. $57,265 to a max. $74,574 per yr. based on education & experience

    Essential Job Functions Overview

    Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance assumes primary responsibility for the day-to-day finance operations and will supervise a team of staff members. Works closely with the Director of Finance on budget and financial issues, prepares and analyzes financial reports and helps to ensure that reporting and processes are within policy and regulation guidelines.     Position Responsibilities:

    Administration:

  • Participate in staff hiring, orientation and training

  • Assist with development, implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure an effective and efficient operation

  • Oversee financial record keeping, reporting, and documentation

  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures as well as with the fiscal guidelines of the Office of Mental Health, Medicaid and County contracts

    Supervision:

  • Provide daily support, supervision, scheduling and development of staff

  • Provide on-going assessment of staff development needs and recommendations of appropriate resources to meet those needs

  • Provide regular and constructive feedback to staff both through individual and group meetings and performance reviews

  • Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment

    Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitoring of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger

  • Approve posting of all necessary journal entries prepared by supervised staff

  • Assist in preparation and analysis of the monthly financial reports

  • Prepare required financial reports and budgets to monitoring agencies (i.e. LIHTC, HHAC, HUD, OMH, counties)

  • Develop and implement processes, including cost allocations, to ensure the Organization’s accounting functions remain up-to-date, reliable and accurate

  • Partner with the Director of Finance and managing directors in the preparation of the annual budget

  • Assist with preparation of the Office of Mental Health consolidated fiscal report

  • Assist with third-party audit and tax preparation activities

  • Maintain an understanding of third-party payment programs for Organization services

  • Assist with preparation of forecasts on the impact of changes in reimbursement

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with three years of accounting experience,

  • Nonprofit experience required

  • Experience preparing an Office of Mental Health consolidated fiscal report preferred

  • Supervisory experience preferred

    Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures, appropriate federal and state regulations, excellent financial analysis skills and experience in budgeting and analyzing financial reports

  • Demonstrate attention to details

  • Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple projects

  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgment, ability to quickly identify and resolve issues

  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook 365 and nonprofit accounting software

  • Manage multiple tasks and changing priorities

  • Ability to review paperwork objectively for quality and compliance

  • Seek, accept, and learn from Supervisor feedback

  • Plan and implement strategies consistent with overall organization goals, objectives, and standards
