Position Summary
The State University of New York at Geneseo Office of Admissions is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, equity-minded individual who has a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an Admissions Intern position.
Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting and counseling prospective students. Activities include, but are not limited to: effective correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication through territory management, interviewing, and group presentations; substantial travel including high school visits, college fairs, and regional presentations; event planning; application assessment; representing the College and department at on and off-campus events; leading on-campus special group visits and partner with New York State CBO’s, and assisting with various projects in the office.
Candidates are required to work alternative schedules during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree by time of appointment and be highly motivated, creative, flexible, detail-focused, and adaptable to changing environments.
Must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents supporting campus and department missions.
Previous experience in higher education, and previous experience within SUNY Geneseo’s Admissions Office which can include work-study or internship experience.
Additional requirements include:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary

Function 1: Prospective Student Correspondence
Correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication
Using prospect database, plan and implement an effective communication plan with recruits that include e-mail, phone calls, and other methods to reach students.

Create and execute an annual recruitment plan.
